Funding Bid Success

Scottish Land Fund Full@4x 80The Trustees of Nether Lochaber Community Association are pleased to inform you of their successful bid for Stage 2 funding from the Scottish Land Fund for the Inchree Barn project.  The award of £45,186 will allow the Association to take ownership of the barn. It will also allow the Association to employ a Project Officer to help raise further funds needs to start the development work needed to bring the barn to life.

The chair of the Inchree Steering Group, Iain Jenner, said;

“It’s been a long journey to get here. Forestry and Land Scotland first offered the Inchree Barn to Nether Lochaber residents  in 2014, and the concept of developing a new community hub facility became a founding aim of our community association in 2017, when NLCA (SCIO) was first incorporated.

After the interruptions and delays of Covid-19, being awarded Stage 2 funding from the Scottish Land Fund is a seminal moment for us, giving us the vital resource of a paid Project Officer for two years to take the project forward.

We can now, finally, complete the asset transfer process, knowing that there is confidence in our project from the community, our neighbours, FLS, and other funding bodies.

As a trustee of NLCA, and one of the key instigators of the ‘Inchree Hub’ idea, I would like to thank all those members, past and present, who gave their time to the NLCA’s Inchree Steering Group, our case officers at HIE, FLS and SLF, and the wider community who have given us their support and ideas during years of consultation and discussion.

A bright opportunity beckons for Nether Lochaber that it has not had before."
