The Inchree Project would like to invite you to Làmhan thar na Linne: A celebration of place, language and culture, re-connecting two communities traditionally linked by the Corran crossing. Two dates of events drawing together Gaels, learners and supporters of the language from both sides of Loch Linnhe. Event details in Gaelic and English, along with links for tickets are below:

Thèid a’ chiad earrainn a chumail Didòmhnaich an 23 Gearran, le feasgar de dh’òrain, sgeulachdan is seanachas le Àdhamh Ó Bròin agus Caoimhe Ní Bhròin aig Leann Àird Ghobhar (Ardgour Ales), far am bithear a’ togail air eachdraidh, cànan is bàrdachd na sgìre, gu h-àraid tron eòlas a th’ aig Àdhamh air dualchainntean dùthchasach Earra-Ghàidheal, nam measg ‘Earra-Ghàidheal a Tuath’ anns an robh Innis Ruidhe, Àird Ghobhar agus a’ Mhorbhairne. Part 1, on Sunday 23rd February, starts with an afternoon of song and storytelling with Àdhamh Ó Bròin and Caoimhe Ní Bhròin at Ardgour Ales. The session will tap into local history, language and song-poetry and delve into Àdhamh’s particular knowledge of the traditional Gaelic dialects of Argyll, including the historical ‘North Argyll’ of Inchree, Ardgour and Morvern. Àrd-ghrùdaire/ Head Brewer Fergus Stokes will be on hand to welcome folk in Gaelic, with some foraged food delights and a specially brewed heather ale, ‘Badan Fraoich’ being served. A pop-up conversation circle has long been an aspiration for the past while, drawing in Gaelic speakers from Ballachulish, Appin, Ardgour, Fort William and the Ardnamurchan peninsulas, and so the latter part of the afternoon at the brewery will be the launch of the Cearcall-Còmhraidh, with games (Gaelic Scrabble, Connect 4, card games, chess etc) available as well as the opportunity to use Gaelic at all levels, with some music and song to accompany the craic.

Crossing the Corran Ferry for Part 2 on Monday 24th, with a Gaelic-speaking skipper at the helm and making announcements, the focus shifts to Inchree where the presenters of BBC ALBA’s newest and highly anticipated outdoors series, ‘Rùrachd’, lead a Gaelic-orientated foraging session, introducing participants to gateway finds. They will explore and celebrate the Gaelic names and backgrounds of plants, as well as their traditional uses. The foraging leaders are Mary Ann Kennedy of Ardgour-based recording studios Watercolour Music, and Lucy Cooke (The Wild Cooke), who is also Project Manager of the Inchree Barn Project. The session is open to all, and local Gaelic speakers, some with generations of family belonging, will be encouraged to come along and join in, sharing their own stories, songs and background.
